The warm sunny days and night-time temps above freezing have finally caught up to us. All Missoula area rivers are on the rise at the moment which could throw off the fishing in the short term. With daytime temps in the 60’s and night-time temps in the 40’s, the rising water trend will most likely continue over the next few days as more mid elevation snow pack melts. According to the weather forecast, it looks like things will cool back down towards the end of the week. This bump of water happens every year sometime in late march or April and is not out of the ordinary. We need a cooler weather trend to allow the rivers to drop back into shape. If your planning on fishing the next couple of days, keep an eye on the flows. You might want to look into tailwater options like the Missouri River if water levels continue to rise.
