FISHING SMALL STREAMS IN MISSOULA MONTANA
While most anglers would conclude that float fishing is the life of kings, wade fishing offers a unique way of experiencing our amazing resource, as well as arguably the best opportunity to master fly-fishing techniques and tactics. Because the slowed pace of a wade fishing trip is much more conducive to teaching fly-fishing basics–roll-casting, mending, reach casting, landing fish–we often suggest that first-timers book a trip with one of our wade fishing specialists. This is especially true during the late season when our main river fish get a bit technical and tributary cutthroat become wildly aggressive.

MORE ABOUT OUR WADE TRIPS
Our guides hoard their wade fishing spots like a morel hunter hoards his favorite cottonwood bottom in May–these streams are intimate, under-pressured, and too special to list by name. A typical wade fishing day requires a fair bit of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable wading boots or sandals. If you like the feel of water around your legs and the sound of a rushing riffle in your ears, spend a day out of the boat on one of our wade fishing trips–you’ll be thrilled you did!
