Clark Fork River Fishing Report

Today we fished the spillway east of Missoula.  We had good nymphing and had some rising fish to cast to when the clouds would roll over.   We got a few fish nymphing the deeper pools but caught bigger fish in the shallow flats and tailouts.  When you start to see midges buzzing the surface check some of the shallower flats for risers.

Flies For the Clark Fork:

Size 12-16 scud and sowbug patterns of all colors and Zebra midges.  Dry fly midge patterns such as griffith’s gnats for the risers.
