Fishing Report: Temporary Blow Out

By on Apr 9th, 2014   //   Less than a minute to read

Fished the Missouri River today because all Missoula Rivers blew out from snow melt overnight.  The nymphing was good and we saw a glimpse of dry fly fishing in the afternoon.  Most of the fish we caught ate a scud or sowbug fly pattern.  Larger sowbugs, size 12 ish, seemed to work the best.   The Missouri is the place to be right now given Missoula’s river conditions.  At least for the next couple of days.   Flows are stable over there at around 6500 cfs.

Colder nights and cooler days in the forecast for Missoula.  These weather conditions will hopefully stabilize flows in the Bitterroot, Clark Fork, and Blackfoot giving us another window of fishing on this side of the divide.
