What a fabulous week of fishing last week was, and what an awesome outlook for the coming week!
The cloudy days with highs in the upper 50’s and stable to dropping flows scream mayflies (BWOs, March Browns, Gray Drakes) and the skwala will continue to turn some of the biggest heads in the river. If my office wasn’t on the river, I’d skip work this week!
‘ROOT:
Pretty outstanding spring up here so far. The higher than normal flows have allowed boats to spread out, and the rising fish are keeping even the grumpiest old guides cordial. Reach Cast Randy continues to impress with fish pics at the bar
CLARK FORK:
Steady hatches of BWOs and March Browns — by our clock, we’re still a few warm days away from that plague of flying skwallas, but who knows this year?!
BLACKFOOT:
One of the best weeks of the year to tangle with the streamer fish of a lifetime up here. Fly color this time of year is not nearly as importance as the angler’s confidence in that color. Take your time and tie it to Maxima.
ROCK CREEK:
Excellent location for the wading angler to steer clear of boats and find prolific late day hatches of mayflies and stones.
MO:
Cue JAWS theme song…some big boys on the prowl over there right now.
