Anthony VonRuden

Hometown: Hillsboro, ND.

When did you begin your guiding career:  2010 – Backcountry fishing trips in Yellowstone.

Favorite river around Missoula: That depends on the season, but if I have a day off you can usually find my wife and I floating the Blackfoot.

Favorite way to target trout: My passion is for figuring out what the fish are keying in on and matching my techniques to have the best day possible. This sounds easy but if it was simple people would catch a fish on every cast, the challenge is what keeps me motivated day in and day out.

Why guide out of Missoula: I believe that Missoula is the most diverse trout fishery in the West. We have almost every species of trout available to us, 400 miles of river to choose from and one of the longest seasons in the country. The opportunities are limitless.

How do you spend your off season: I spend my falls guiding hunts and the winter and spring seasons are spent outside having adventures with my wonderful wife and our two young boys.
