What is your favorite Missoula river?

“That’s a tough question to answer and a subject that comes up a lot with clients.  My answer:  I love all of the rivers at different times.  The Blackfoot and Bitterroot during high water.  The Bitterroot during the early Stonefly hatches.   But because I love technical Mayfly fishing I would choose the Lower Clark Fork in September and October.  Watching big picky fish eating tiny Mayflies is exciting and will challenge any angler.  I like to embrace this challenge and enjoy being humbled by these fish from time to time.”

How many days a year do you fish?

“Over a hundred days plus a few long nights throwing flies that look like squirrels for big brown trout…”

Hobbies other than Fishing:

“Field hunting for ducks and geese, taking photos of fish, tying flies, testing local breweries latest creations.  And last but not least: The University of Oklahoma Football.”

 Favorite Fishing Tip:

“Don’t lose him!”

If you could fish somewhere where you’ve never fished where would it be?

“Kamchatka, Russia.  Louisiana for huge Redfish.  Somewhere for Tarpon, Permit or Bonefish.  New Zealand.  The list is long and distinguished.”
